This trend impacts project budgets and timelines, particularly for smaller firms, with workforce shortages cited as the leading cause of project delays. Recent enforcement efforts, including ICE raids and the loss of work authorizations for over 500,000 immigrants, have created a chilling effect, causing delays and increased costs in construction sites across South Florida. The Federal Reserve has noted that these policies reduce labor, delay projects, and raise costs, exacerbating economic uncertainty and halting hiring. In Florida, this has contributed to a broader construction crisis, with many workers relocating due to fear and uncertainty.
